21.12.08 - Arbeit ist das halbe Leben

nun wird es wirklich mal Zeit euch einen frischen Bericht voller neuer Infos zu bieten.
Seit unserem letzten Bericht hat sich mal wieder eine ganze Menge ereignet.
Wie üblich versuche ich nun an den letzten Bericht anzuknüpfen und mich dann chronologisch an die Gegenwart heranzuarbeiten.
Es begab sich dass wir unseren Job auf der Zaina Farm, in Bundaberg bis ans Ende der beschriebenen Woche behalten konnten, darauf wollte man uns aufs Tomatenfeld schicken,wo wir zusammen mit vielen Asiaten für einen lausigen Lohn, bei Wind und Wetter Tomaten pflücken sollten.
Dafür waren wir uns dann doch zu gut, also schlossen wir uns mit unseren französischen Freunden zusammen und fuhren weiter Richtung Norden.
Unterwegs kamen wir an einem Nationalpark vorbei, welcher ausschliesslich mit Allradantribe-Fahrzeugen befahrbar war, die ideale Gelegenheit um unseren guten Bubu mal auf Herz und Nieren zu testen.
Am folgenden Samstag, dem 22.11.08 (boah, wird echt Zeit dass ich endlich mal was schreibe), übernachteten wir mit Gautier und Maxime in Rockhampton, hier trafen wir ein paar Deutsche, welche wir bereits in Brisbane kurz kennengelernt hatten. In dieser Hinsicht ist Australien echt klein, aber dazu später mehr.
In diesem Örtchen gab es leider nichts was uns halten konnte, also fuhren wir am nächsten morgen weiter, mit dem Plan uns mit den Franzosen am Blacks Beach wieder zu treffen.
Natürich suchten wir uns wieder eine Route aus, die über abgelegenen Wege führt wo man die unberührte Natur geniessen kann und womöglich auch dem ein oder anderen Tier begegnet.
Leider trafen wir nur auf Unmengen von Kühen. Die Autstralier sollten sich wirklich überlegen ob sie nciht lieber die Kuh als Wappentier nehmen, denn davon sieht man auffällig mehr als von Koalas, Känguruhs und anderen Exoten.
Uns über die geringe Tiervielfalt ärgernd fuhren wir immer weiter und weiter. Laute Musik und geniale Landschaften gingen Hand in Hand, bis uns plötzlich ein ungewöhnlicher Geruch in die Nase stieg. Rauch!
Aus dem Fenster konnten wir gewaltige, dunkle Rauchwolken aus den Wäldern, um uns herum aufsteigen sehen.
Bei den vorherrschenden Temperaturen und dem wenigen Regen zu dieser Zeit wundert es natürlich keinen dass hier häufig mal der Wald brennt. Glücklicherweise befanden wir uns kilometerweit vom Brand entfernt und konnten somit weiter unseren kleinen Feldweg entlang düsen.
Bis der Geruch stärker wurde und auch die Sicht immer häufiger von Rauchwolken blockiert wurde.
Unsere Abenteuerlust und ein möglicher Umweg von 50 Kilometern hinderten und am Umkehren, denn wir gingen davon aus dass wir den Brand weiterhin umfahren könnten.
Wenige Minuten später ging alles sehr schnell. Links von uns Flammen, rechts von uns Flammen, vor uns Rauch und Flammen, keine guten Reisebedingungen.
Also kehrten wir ruckzuck um und nahmen den unvorteilhaften Umweg in Kauf.
In Blacks Beach angekommen konnten wir dann unseren Kumpanen freudig von dem Abenteuer berichten.
Hier verbrachten wir die Nacht auf einem Campingplatz, etwa 20 Meter vom Strand entfernt.
Was eigentlich ganz schön klingt. erwies sich als fataler Fehler, denn wir schliefen wahrscheinlich am Mückenzentrum Australiens. Mit Hunderten von Stichen am ganzen Körper, machten wir uns am folgenden Tag schleunigst aus dem Staub.
Diesmal brachte uns Bubu in einen ganz besonderen Nationalpark.
Die Rede ist vom Eungella Park, welcher im Prinzip Teil des Australischen Regenwaldes ist.
Anfangs wanderten wir auf einem befestigten Weg, der vorbei Lianengebilde, mächtigen Bäume und undurchdringbaren Büschen verlief.
Plötzlich bemerkten wir einen umgefallenen Baum der es ermöglichte die Flora zu durchdringen und bis an den kleinen Fluß, der durch den Dschungel verlief, heranzutreten.
Der Fluß war voller gewaltiger Steine die nur so zum klettern einluden.
Diesmal besiegte das Kind in uns die Vernunft und wir begannen eine wunderbare Klettertour durch den Urwald.
Wir hüpften von einem Stein zum nächsten, stolzierten durch das Wasser, kletterten Felsen hinauf und hinab und schwangen uns an Lianen über unbegehbare Stellen.
Unser Tarzanreise fand schliesslich an einem großen Wasserfall, der wirklich unüberwindbar war, ihr Ende.
Zurück im Auto fuhren wir direkt nach Airlie Beach, einem bunten kleinen Örtchen, welches leider zu sehr von Touristen überlaufen ist.
Hier verabschiedeten wir uns am 24.11.08 von unseren französischen Freunden Maxime und Gautier.
Hoffentlich sehen wir die beiden mal wieder.
2 Tage darauf erreichten wir einen kleinen Ort Namens Innisfail.
Diesen Ort kannten wir durch Marcel und Pierre, welche wir hier auch kurz antrafen.
Aber nicht nur die beiden trafen wir hier an, auch Sven (ihr erinnert euch hoffentlich)und andere Leute aus Sydney trafen wir hier wieder.
Soviel dazu, dass Australien ein riesiges Land ist.
Seit 3 Wochen leben wir hier im Walkabout Motel und arbeiten auf der Grima Farm, eine kleine gemütliche Familienfarm, wo Marvin den ganzen Tag Bananenkisten schleppt und ich Papayas pflücke.
Ab und zu unternehmen wir einen Ausflug zu den Josephine Falls, einer kleinen Wasserfalllandschaft mitten im Regenwald in der man bedenkenlos baden gehen kann. Ich finde das immer wieder unglaublich, denn was man bei uns daheim in den Schwimmbädern als Poster an den Wänden sieht, um ein exotisches Flair zu erleben, bekommt man hier live und ungekünstelt geboten.
Über die Weihnachtstage werden wir definitiv in Innisfail bleiben um unsere Reisekasse weiter aufzubessern.
Heute waren wir auf einer nahegelegenen Krokodil Farm, wo wir mit Krokodilen, Schlangen und Känguruhs spielen konnten, das war wirklich eine spaßige Abwechslung zum Arbeitsalltag.

Today, I went to the beachfront with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is entirely off topic but I had to tell someone!
