14.05.09 - Aufstieg und Fall

In dieser Zeit ist nicht wirklich viel passiert, aber das was passiert ist ist dafür umso bedeutsamer.
Guten Tag erstmal, denn Höfflichkeit wird auch in Australien immernoch groß geschrieben.
Mein letzter Beitrag endete mit unserer Ankunft in Brisbane, wo wir vergeblich nach Arbeit suchten.
Die Wochen vergingen und in den Stunden größter Not, fanden wir trotzdem keinen Job.
Meistens wurden wir mit ähnlichen Phrasen abgespeist; “Ihr wisst ja selbst dass es harte Zeiten sind.”, “Wir mussten uns neulich leider schon von einigen Mitarbeitern trennen, da können wir euch nicht nehmen.” ,”Vielleicht haben wir in 3 Monaten wieder Arbeit.”, “Lasst uns doch einfach erstmal euren Lebenslauf hier.”
So schön diese Sätze auch teilweise klingen, so bedeuten sie doch alle das gleiche ; “Wir haben hier keinen Job für euch.”
Zu diesem Zeitpunkt hatten wir wirklich alle Möglichkeiten augeschöpft, die ein armer, kleiner Backpacker in Australien hat.
Wie es das Schicksal so wollte bekam Marvin nach einigen Wochen trotzdem eine Anstellung bei einer örtlichen Web-Entwicklungs-Firma, welche nun im Prinzip aus 2 Frauen und ihm besteht.
Ich hingegen kam in Brisbane leider nicht zu Potte.
So traf ich eine Entscheidung mit der keiner von uns beiden zu Beginn unserer Reise gerechnet hatte.
Unsere Wege mussten sich hier trennen.
Mein Flug nach Melbourne war schnell gebucht und damit gab es auch kein zurück mehr.
Die letzten Tage die uns vorerst noch gemeinsam blieben wollten wir aber nochmal richtig geniessen.
Also fuhren wir am 20.03 mit BuBu nach Süden, Richtung Byron Bay.
Angekommen an einem wunderbaren, verteckten Strandplatz probierten wir uns den folgenden Tag erstmal auf dem Surfboard, leider ohne spektakuläre Erfolge. Surfen stellte sich als etwas herraus dass man nicht in 3 Stunden von selbst lernen kann.
Die Nacht verbrachten wir in der Nähe vom Strand, im Auto.
Am nächsten morgen wachte ich mit einem unguten Gefühl im Magen auf, diese Nervosität bekam ich zum Glück schnell in den Griff. Auf dem Weg zum Skydivecentre war Marvin wie gewohnt locker und entspannt.
An dieser Stelle kann ich ja nun auflösen dass unsere “letzte” gemeinsame Aktion etwas ganz simples sein sollte; ein Fallschirmsprung. Vor Ort angekommen konnte ich zum Glück auch meine Anspannung in Entspannung auflösen, denn nachdem alles bezahlt war hatte meine Höhenangst nichts mehr zu melden.
Die Minuten vergingen und plötzlich musste alles ganz schnell gehen. Marvin und Ich hatten uns persönliche Kameraleute gebucht die uns auf dem Weg nach oben (und nach unten) begleiten würden. Zudem gab es noch einen erfahrenen Springer, der einem auf den Rücken geschnallt wurde und alles koordinierte.
Wir bekamen eine kurze Einweisung wie wir uns verhalten sollten und schon stiegen wir in ein wenig vertrauenserweckendes Flugzeug. Das konnte uns aber egal sein, da wir ja sowieso vorhatten rauszuspringen.
Auf einer Höhe von etwa 4,5km (14.000 fuß) bekamen wir das Signal die Zielhöhe erreicht zu haben.
“Moment, das sieht ja höher aus als erwartet.” Und schon musste ich zur Kante rutschen. “Ganz schön frisch hier.” Meine letzten Worte waren etwa: “Ich kann nicht glauben dass ich das wirklich maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa….”
Mit einer gekonnten Vorwärtsrolle, verliess ich mit meinem Teamleiter das Flugzeug.
Zuerst drehte sich alles und dann spührte ich nur noch die 200km/h, mit denen ich mich dem Erdboden näherte.
Ehrlich gesagt fand ich das alles gar nicht so schlimm wie erwartet.
Die Aussicht war grandios und das Gefühl unbeschreiblich.
Nach gefühlten 10 Sekunden aber gemessenen 60 Sekunden öffnete sich der Fallschirm und der freie Fall ging gemütlich in ein Herabgleiten über.
Wenige Minuten später war dann auch schon alles wieder vorbei.
Das Erlebniss hatte sich an allen Ecken und Enden wirklich gelohnt.
Auf unserem Rückweg nach Brisbane machten wir noch einen kurzen Zwischenstopp in Surfers Paradise, einem großen Strandstädtchen in dem es, wie wir herrausfanden, das einzige Hard Rock Cafe in ganz Australien gibt.
Ein Besuch hier war Pflicht.
Am Abend erreichten wir dann Brisbane und rückblickend auf das Wochenende hätten wir unsere Zeit kaum besser verbringen können.
Am folgenden Dienstag war es dann auch schon soweit, am frühen Vormittag brachte mich Marvin zum Flughafen, wo wir uns dann vorerst voneinander verabschieden mussten.
Nach 3 Stunden Flug kam ich in Melbourne an. Nun, leider nicht wirklich. Sprachlos verliess ich den Flughafen und musste feststellen dass ich mitten im Nirgendwo war. Nach einigen nicht jugendfreien Flüchen erspähte ich jedoch einen Bus der mich bis in die Innenstadt Melbournes brachte.
Hier kam ich erstmal bei meinem alten Klassenkameraden Thomas unter, der zufälligerweise ein Auslandssemester hier verbringt.
Von dort an begab ich mich auf Jobsuche, leider musste ich schnell feststellen dass die Arbeitsmarktsituation hier leider auch nicht besser aussah als überall anders.
Nach einem knappen Monat, landete ich aber doch einen Treffer, so arbeite ich nun für die örtliche Verkehrsgesellschaft Connex als Statistiker.
Während Marvin am Computer sitzt, Internetseiten bastelt und dabei bestimmt glücklich ist, stehe oder sitze ich irgndwo in Melbourne und zähle Leute im Zug.
In dieser Zeit blicken wir dem nciht allzu fernen Tag entgegen, wenn sich unsere Wege wieder kreuzen und wir Australien wieder gemeinsam unsicher machen.
